In two days I will be flying to Los Angeles for the Special Olympics World Games. More than 6,500 athletes from 165 countries will participate in 25 different sports, and they will compete with everything that is in them. This will be my fifth World Games, and the best thing about it is that I am just going to watch – to sit in the stands, cheer loudly, and watch.
One amazing thing about these Games is that for the first time ever, ESPN will be covering them, so you too can watch. The Opening Ceremonies on Saturday evening July 25th, will be televised on ESPN at 7:00 p.m. MST, as will much of the competition for the next eight days.
Who’s to say that the World Games will ever be televised again, so it is with that thought in mind, I encourage you and yours to tune in. You will not be disappointed.
